Workflow & Architecture

How Video Downloads and MP3 Conversion Work

Follow how VideoSave validates a supported public URL, prepares compatible MP4 video or converts available audio to MP3, and returns the resulting file.

What Happens After You Paste a Public Video URL?

VideoSave validates the public URL and redirects, then retrieves the available media. For MP4, it selects compatible H.264 video and AAC audio streams and may combine or remux them; it does not promise arbitrary codec transcoding. For MP3, it converts the available source audio. The output is checked, returned to the browser and scheduled for cleanup.

STEP 01

Paste a Supported Public Media URL

Paste a supported public TikTok, YouTube, Instagram or Facebook media URL into VideoSave.

STEP 02

Validate URL and Retrieve Media Info

The server validates the URL and redirects, then uses the supervised media extractor to retrieve available metadata and formats.

STEP 03

Choose MP4 or MP3 Quality

Choose MP4 Best, 1080p, 720p or 480p, or MP3 Best, 320 kbps, 192 kbps or 128 kbps. Numeric video choices are maximum heights, and MP3 Best targets 192 kbps.

STEP 04

Create and Return the Requested File

For MP4, the server selects compatible H.264/AAC streams and may combine or remux them. For MP3, it converts the available audio. It validates the output, returns the file and then attempts cleanup.

Server-Side Validation and Temporary File Handling

VideoSave validates supported public URLs and redirects, applies processing limits and uses a separate temporary directory for each download request. Cleanup is attempted after failures and when file delivery finishes or is cancelled.

Per-Job Directory

Each request uses a unique temporary directory for its media and output files.

Cleanup Attempts

Temporary-file cleanup is attempted after failures and when the response finishes or is cancelled.

SSRF Protection

URL and redirect validation blocks unsafe schemes, private IP ranges and loopback destinations.
